POST YOUR IDEAS FOR THE SITE HERE

MY IDEAS:

1) your 'activity' on the forums gives you points, which you can spend to download stuff in a resource section. Uploading videos on the portal gives you points too.

2) a REAL portal section where you can upload your animations. a bit like fluidanims.

3) 'featured videos': on your youtube account, you can chose to have a video on your account that plays every time someone looks at it. out of your like, i don't know, 5 videos you uploaded, you can have one on your account so that everyone can see it.

4) same as above, but 'featured artwork'

5) profile comments (a bit like youtube)

6) background colour is crap. make it a normal, brighter orange.

7) list of all the vids and artwork you uploaded on your profile

8) NEW NAVIGATION BAR: Home - Forums - Portal - Inhouse - Resources (Tutorials + Downloads) - Memberlist - Profile. that's all we need. do we actually NEED calendar, FAQ, gallery, or search? (we could put search in our resources section),

1: good idea....its just hard to do something lilke that (i don't know if forumotion supports this)

2: impossible......we have no server, noone of us can build a php portal,IF we use a ftp server we wouldn't have enouhg space

3: thats possible

4: also good idea

5: could be possible

6: APX told me that he'll change it

new buttons......i would do them if i wasn't so busy....(im working on a star wars movie and its awesome!)

what's an ftp server? you know, we could always buy a site... it's only 15$ a year for glowanims.com

ftp is a kind of filehosting.....
i mean if we use a FREE ftp server we wouldn't have enough space......
glowanims.com is only the topleveldomain.....no server, no space.

so how COULD we get a real portal? what kind of server would we need? how much would a real ftp server cost?

heres something good....i translatedit.
we would get 1 GB for 7€ per month......plus 2 topleveldomains like glowanims.com and glowanimsportal.com or something else.
and we would get 100 sub domains.

overall its a great offer.

on the site it says 2 GB for seven euros.

for 2 gb we could have a portal that can have videos with a 15MB limit. that's the size of a massive collab like the come back collab 2. that basically means we can have a portal with: the most recent 25 animations, the best 50 animations, and the top 10 of the month. a bit like fa. ok, a lot like fa.all that makes 1.275 GB, so we have plenty of other space.

THE RATING SYTEM: the rating system will be out of 5, rating the animations: puke (lol it means terrible) , bad, meh (average), good, and fantastic.

puke: 1 to 1.5.
bad: 1.5 to 2.5.
meh: 2.5 to 3.5.
good: 3.5 to 4.5.
legendary: 4.5 to 5.

we should get smileys to symbolise the scores:

puke: smiley putting a gun to his head
bad: smiley doing this
meh: smiley doing this :|
good: smiley doing thumbs up
legendary: smiley like the guy in: http://www.giantbomb.com/rhythm-heaven/61-21312/reviews/

obviously we need better quality smileys. (animated ones)

colours: puke: dark green
bad: red
meh: grey
good: green
legendary: gold

we also need a really cool, interactive navigation bar. (orange one) good job adding inhouse to navbar, and removing calendar adn gallery.

the price for 2 gb is only 7€ for the first 6 moths ....after that it costs 14€

ok no problem, i can do the 14 euro deal. i'm not paying for all of it though :) does the site accept paypal?

next thing: can you modify the php uploader so that it only accepts swf?

no it doesn't accep paypal....if we do that i'll have to pay from my account.(i don't really want this).
i could modify the uploader but i'll need some time because im a noob with php.....i started today ^^.

thats not the point.....
we need a german account if we get the server there.....the only one who is german here is me.....i beleve^^

ok how about this: animations submitted are rated based on their originality, sound, and quality of animation (out of 5) and an out of 5 overall rating.

so basically you can rate an animation like they used to on the old FA site

that could get this site to be more out-going and(or)more active
